Why Are We Here?
Good evening, I hope this message finds you well.
First, welcome to this blogspot. This space is for sharing belief systems of all kinds without fear of being ostracized from a community or unnecessarily labeled. We should be able to rationally talk through our thought processes, agreements and disagreements, all without the ever popular, overly politically correct hat that looms over most of our heads in today's conversations. In short, let's just talk as normal people.
How did this page gets started? Sara B. and I began talking a couple months ago. She shared some content on Instagram that spoke to me, this eventually led to a conversation concerning the current social and political climate in the United States. We lamented the divisive culture we are currently in. I speak for myself when I say that one cannot express differing opinions on social media right now without low-level to severe social consequences. I've been slowly discovering people that find themselves landing (non-apathetically) in the middle, as far as politics are concerned. I also need to concede when I say that I don't believe Instagram of Facebook represents most people, meaning I don't think most people are as extreme as we see on social media. Now, what concerns me is how loud those voices are. People in extreme groups tend to get a lot done, speaking for those of us that don't feel that way politically or socially at all.
Some topics we can share on this page:
- Politics (thoughts on BLM, alt-right, the current election, local politics, etc.)
- Socio-Cultural (protests, gender and sexuality, motherhood, fatherhood, leftist and right ideologies etc.)
These thoughts can be both inquisitive, positive, questioning, etc.
I do not want to be the only one running or posting the page, I'd like it to be as equitable as possible. If you'd like to contribute posts past just commenting on someones post, leave your email in the comments below, that way I can add you as an author to the site.
This is very loose format. I am sure as we talk and gain momentum we can start various threads and conversations on the blog. Thank you!
